Newport Beach Rebuild Sneak Peak

Happy Sunday!

I figured I would start this week off by giving you all a sneak peek into one of my current projects!

My clients are an amazing couple that are currently building their dream home in the coastal town of Newport Beach, California. They wanted a home that would be the center of family gatherings, a place for grandchildren to play, and the place they will both retire to. The property featured a two story home that was built in the 1960's that needed a complete overhaul, so that exactly what we decided to do.

Here is the home that was on the property before we decided to tear down the existing home and build from scratch.

The new home will feature approximately 4,500 square feet of living space. How are we getting all of that square footage in this lot? Simple, when you can’t build up, you build down.

Here is the beginning of the basement process. The lot is waterfront so the logistics behind this project were extreme to say the least. After months of water pumps, digging, and putting all of the pieces into place, the rest of the building process can begin.

So here we have the start of what will be the ground floor. As you can see it is a very intricate process requiring the utmost attention to detail to ensure a stable foundation above the basement and in the sand.

This is what will form the rounded staircase in the very center of the home. Extending the height of the entire home (three stories), the staircase will feature floating stair treads and cable handrails to give this contemporary home a centerpiece that is sure to "wow".

Here is the best part of the home; the view. Complete with a private dock and a glass wall that collapses to allow the outdoors to blend into the interior of the home. The clients wanted a very bright and open space to entertain; in order to achieve that we are utilizing low furniture as well as a color palette to compliment the natural surroundings of the home.

We will be featuring dark grey glass cabinets with carrera marble and stainless steel countertops. The most exciting part about this kitchen is the backsplash...did we mention that it is a three-sided, salt water fish tank? My clients wanted to keep the color palette subtle with little touches of color and natural colored materials.

Here is the glorious basement I was motioning; doesn’t look like much yet, but this will be an epic man cave when I’m done with it. It will feature two wine cellars, a full bar, beer taps, four flat screen TV's, a home theater, shuffleboard table, pool table, and a whole lot of space to spread out and watch some sports. (Stay tuned for my next post on how to pull off the perfect man cave.)

One of my favorite aspects about this house is when you stand in the basement and look up through the staircase, you can see clear up to that gorgeous California sky.

The back of the house will be complete with two Coverglass window wall openings, built in fire pit, and a pizza oven. Talk about the perfect spot for summer parties! The dock is also just a short distance from the back patio and will also offer multiple seating options.

Last but not least, here is the amazing view that was the inspiration behind the whole design for this home. The view off the master bedroom is the crowning jewel of this home, and I’m sure my clients will be enjoying this view for many years to come.

So there you have it, the first sneak peek into my Lido Isle property, be sure to stay tuned for more updates on furniture we are using, finishes, and much more.
